RMI simply offers remote access to an object running in another process. But EJB offers far more services than RMI. EJB leverages this remote-object feature of RMI, but also provides other services such as persistence, transaction management, security, and resource management. The EJB server provides all of these complex services which allows EJB developers to worry about business logic instead. For a complete understanding of EJB i suggest Http://edocs.bea.com/wle/rmi/sampejb.htm

What is the difference between RMI and RPC?

RMI or Remote Method Invokation is very similar to RPC or Remote Proceedure call in that the client both send proxy objects (or stubs) to the server however the subtle difference is that client side RPC invokes FUNCTIONS through the proxy function and RMI invokes METHODS through the proxy function. RMI is considered slightly superior as it is an object-oriented version of RPC.

What is EJB role in J2EE?

EJB generally is used for the following reasons - 1. To extract the business logic from web tier and implement the buginess logic in ejb. 2. EJB can also run on different system. So for big application to reduce load buniness logic implementation code can be executed in different system. 3. Since to run the EJB, develop needs an EJB container. So these are following activities are managed by the EJB container - i. To handle resouce polling. Basically EJB container create EJB instance and place in poll to ready when require it provides the instance. ii. Transaction management using @ContainerBeabManaged annotation iii. Threading iv. concurency handleing Thanks aswini.de@gmail.com

What is the difference between Java beans and Java Enterprise Java beans?

Java Bean is a simple java class that have setters and getter methods for declared variables, which in turn using in other java classes by calling this bean object. Where as Enterprise Java Bean (known as EJB) is a different concept, is a separate architecture for setting up program components (other java programs). Java Bean don't have business logic in it. EJB will have business logic in it. Java Bean is a light weight componenet, EJB is a heavy weight component. To run a Java Bean, Tomcat Server is sufficient, where as to run an EJB, we require an Application Server(Ex: Websphere, WebLogic etc..)

What is EJB in java?

Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) is the server-side and platform-independent Java application programming interface (API) for Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE). EJB is used to simplify the development of large distributed applications.

What is rmi and where you use rmi?

RMI stands for Remote Method Invocation. It is the feature by which a java program executing in one JVM can access another java program that is available in a totally different JVM and execute the code inside it. It is accomplished by using Stubs and Skeletons. RMI is heavily used in network programming

Difference Between RPC and RMI?

The only real difference between RPC and RMI is that there is objects involved in RMI: instead of invoking functions through a proxy function, we invoke methods through a proxy. What this means in practice is that we now want the client to hold references to remote objects that it can invoke methods on. These references should behave just like local objects, but when invoked dispatch the method invocation to the remote object.Because we need to refer to both an object and a method now - not just a function - we extend the protocol so it first sends an object id across the socket, then the method and then the arguments. The server then dispatches the method to the remote object based on id and method name.-Rituparno Ganguly

What is the difference between RMI and Corba?

RMI is completely Java based, where CORBA is language independent. There are many adapters for CORBA, and programs can call processes written in any language that has a CORBA interface. CORBA has many more features documented in the specification than just process communication. RMI is easier to implement if you already know Java - it looks just the same as calling a process locally - but it's limited to only calling other Java applications. They are owned by different people. Ja üldse, naised, võtke tissid paljaks. Pohhui see progemine, paneme pidu. AnswerDifferance between RMI and CORBARMI is a technology the was released with Java 1.1 to make JVM to remote JVM calls possible. RMI uses stubs an skeletons, a little RMI server that has its own, sexy little naming type service, and the RMI protocol for marshalling requests back and forth from JVM to JVM.CORBA is an entire infrastructure, almost like J2EE before the Java Gods created J2EE. Actually, lots of J2EE stuff is just totally stolen from CORBA, er, I mean, based on CORBA. CORBA defines a naming service, transaction service, and even a social housing service. CORBA was very progressive.

Difference between heavyweight framework and lightweight framework?

Lightweight framework do not have to depend on framework interfaces or abstract classes to hook or instantiate components into them.Heavyweight frameworks on the other hand require the extension of framework classes or the implementation of framework interfaces in order to take advantage of their middleware features. This means that a lot of classes are instantiated and hooked on to your application when they may not be even required!!Lightweight framework (may be just my point of view) is a standalone/independent implementation of a feature- set.Heavyweight frameworks Also more often than not we are dependent on some or other kind of container to support the framework features.I could categorize EJB 2.x as Heavyweight framework, When you write an application in EJB 2.x (my apologies to all EJB fans ), your code is highly dependent on EJB classes and interfaces. I think EJB 3 is much better in this respect, but I am not sure.Frameworks like Struts/Hibernate are lightweight because your application code has minimal dependencies on these frameworks.

Whats the difference between a repetitive strain injury and a repetitive motion injury?

Some people mean the same thing when they talk about repetitive strain injuries and repetitive motion injuries. The difference is most likely that RSIs are from abusing a part of your body by working it improperly while a RMI is just from regular use.
