What is the difference between Haywood Patterson and Tom Robinson?

Although Tom is a fictional character the events that happened to him where real, like haywood Paterson. The differnece between them is onee of Haywood is real person, was convicted of raping 2 girls with a group of men, and he made it throught the trial alive but with difficulty. On the other hand Tom Roberson was only acused of raping one girl, he is a fictitonal character, and died at the end of the book. Actually, those are the only differences. Tom Robinson's character was based off of Haywood Patterson in the Scottsboro trials. The only real difference is that Tom died and Haywood didn't.
