The Maverick line is a less expensive line of shotguns starting around $180 to $200. The Mossberg 500 starts at around $300.

The Mav 88 is a bit less expensive, but it's not from a lack of quality in any way. The Mav 88 is physically and functionally identical to the Mossy 500 except that Mossberg lowers the price by lowering the cost of production.

The Mossy 500 has nice wood and a steel forearm action slide tube, the Mav 88 has a one piece synthetic forearm and no slide tube. The Mossy has a top safety machined into the top of the receiver, where the Mav 88 has the safety made as a part of the trigger guard. The Mossy 500 usually comes with sling swivels, the Mav 88 you have to spend the extra $5 and buy your own.

Quality-wise, both are functionally identical and all parts except the Mossy 500 forearm wood can be interchanged. All barrels interchange as do all stocks etc.

The Mav 88 is a fine weapon in all regards. It won't let you down.

What is the difference between a mossberg 410 pump 500e and a 410 500?

Value difference between mossberg 500 and mossberg 500a?

There is no difference. A 500 is a basic Mossy 500 receiver shotgun. Unless the gauge is stated, it's assumed it's a 12. The 500A is simply stating it as a "12 gauge" 500 in its name. The Mossy 500A is a 12 gauge model 500, the 500B is a 16 gauge model 500, the 500C is a 20 gauge etc. There was no 28 gauge so there is no 500D, contrary to many sources, so the next one was the .410 called the 500E. A 12 gauge model 500 and a 500A are the same gun.

What would one use a Mossberg 500 Stock for?

The Mossberg 500 Stock is the stock for the Mossberg 500 shotgun. The stock would allow you to get a better grip on the shotgun and absorb some recoil from firing the shotgun.

Will a mossberg 500 stock fit a mossberg 930?

Not likely. The 930 is a gas operated semi-automtic. The 500 is a pump.

How much is a maverick by mossberg model 88 12 ga. shotgun worth?

About $200-$275 new depending on how it's set up. Used for around $75-$150. It's almost identical to the Mossberg 500 except for the trigger group/safety. It's a good bang for the buck. Pun intended.

What is the difference between a Mossberg 500 and 500A?

The model 500 Mossberg is a particular style introduced in 1961 by O.F.Mossberg & Sons. It has undergone many style changes over the years, but 500A, B, C, or D are not style changes. A model 500A is the 12 gauge version of the model 500. 500B is 16 gauge. 500C is 20 gauge and 500D is .410 (which is actually a caliber rather than a gauge.

How can you tell if you have a mossberg 500 or a mossberg 500a?

If you have a 500, and it is a 12 gauge, it is a 500A. The "A" designates it as a 12ga. A 500B is a 16ga, a C is a 20ga, and an E is a .410.
