Random Access Memory (RAM) can have some of your own information saved to it. Read-Only Memory (ROM) cannot have any information saved to it as it has its own information. For example: CD - ROM

Difference between RAM nd RAM?

Do you mean the difference between RAM and ROM? If that is what you meant then ROM is what is used to read discs that are put into the computer, but RAM is used to temporarily hold memory from desktop and web based applications.

What is the difference between ram and rom with basis of difference?

Ram reads and writes to memory; but upon interruption of power loses all data. ROM reads only memory, but is not dependent on power. Easy examples of RAM and ROM technology: RAM: RAM or memory of your computer, vram (graphics card ram) need power to be accessed (read or written to). ROM: CD-ROM, DVD-rom are mediums that require no power to be read from. However the disc does need a drive drive needing power to spin the disc and power for the laser to read the binary code. But the individual cells don't need power to keep the data. To some extend a harddrive, flash drive, ssd, BIOS chip, CD-DVD RW's are a mixture between both; can be recorded to, and don't need power to retain the data.

What is the difference between Ram nd Rome?

I assume the questioner meant RAM and ROM? In which case, RAM is Random Access Memory, which is the volatile memory used to input data, which is then saved (if there is a need to) to the hard drive. ROM is Read Only Memory, which is stable memory that the data the manufacturer has burned onto a chip. ROM data is required to boot up and set out system instructions - the user has no access to ROM.

What is the difference between a CD-ROM and a CD-ROM drive?

The same as the difference between a phonograph record and a phonograph. The CD-ROM is where the data is stored. the purpose of the CD-ROM drive is to read it.

Compare and contrast RAM and ROM?

RAM is an acronym for Random Access Memory; ROM is an acronym for Read Only Memory. Both RAM and ROM are random access; that is, each cell in memory is directly accessible. The cells in RAM can be both read from and written to. The cells in ROM can only be read from. The bit pattern in ROM is determined at the time of manufacture or burned when the computer is assembled. Once a ROM has been burned (written), it cannot be changed. Another major difference is that RAM is volatile and ROM is not. This means that RAM does not maintain its bit patterns when the power is turned off, but ROM does.

What is the difference batween ram and rom?

ROM, as in CD-ROM, refers to the way in which you access the stored data, i.e. Read-Only Memory. RAM (Random Access Memory) is the amount of memory a computer can access to complete a given action. The more RAM, the quicker the action can be performed.

What does the acronym RAM and ROM stand for and the difference in the two?

What is the differerence between a ram and a rom?

Similarities between ram and rom?

There are none as RAM allows random write access while ROM only allows read access (the very reason why it's called ROM because it stands for Read-Only Memory).
