What is the difference between a 1997 Chevy Venture fuel pump long and short version?

I assume you are asking about the pump only (short version) as compared to the complete fuel pump module (long version).
The electric fuel pump is in the fuel tank on the venture vans.
The fuel pump module consists of the fuel pump, filter sock, fuel gauge sender unit, and fuel tank vapor pressure sensor.
The complete module is very expensive, $250 plus! If you can find a online site to sell you just the fuel pump without the other items it would be much cheaper. But you would have to take it all apart and it has plastic tabs that are prone to breaking.
