The Renegade was merely an option package for Wranglers between 1991 and 1994. The Renegade is still a Wrangler, but with extra 'stuff' added to it to make it stand out from the base-model, Laredo, Sahara, Islander, Sport, and Rio Grande. It's most distinguishing feature were those over-sized fender flares and 5-hole aluminum wheels. It also featured a more plush interior with various amenities that weren't found in the lower-end model Wranglers.

The Jeep Wrangler replaced the CJ5 in 1987.
The difference between them is about $5,000.00 and some bling they are both wranglers. Captain911
Trim package
i was wondering what the difference is between the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Rubicon A: Sahara is a wrangler trim package (it's the same vehicle) A:Rubicon is a wrangler with significant upgrades. air locking differentials, suspension lift, tires and wheels, etc.
Not much difference between the two, the year between them pretty much equals the difference out. If there is a difference in motors it may make a difference but I would say they are even.
Taller springs and shocks
An XJ is a Cherokee, a TJ is a Wrangler.
all clutches are internal. that is to say they are inside the bell housing
The big difference between the two is that the 97 has the sound bar, if the top doesn't allow for that it will be fine, if so, you will have some extra material there.
I'm pretty sure it is the bed size. The Laredo has a little bit longer bed and possible wheel-base.
between the hood and the windshield
