What is the difference between a fixed resistor and a variable resistor?
its the colour of the fixed and the variable we define it by its power and name
Connect a variable resistance across DC source (fixed ends of variable resistor or Rheostat) and take decreased DC output across its one fixed terminal and other variable terminal of variable resistor. Other method is connect variable resistor in series with DC output and load, vary the resistance and take decreased DC voltage as required.
Often we want to easily change a resistor value, so we use a variable resistor. For example, we may want to change the resistor that controls the power sent to a LED, so we can easily make it brighter or dimmer. Often if we use a variable resistor, there is only a very narrow range that is useful. Continuing our example, sometimes we use several LEDs, and we use the variable resistor to set them…
Hi, where there is no need of changing the value of resistor then why do you place variable resistor instead a fixed resistor. After all the selection of resistor depends on the cause of use in application. by the way wide range of resistor values are avilable in the market. if the application requires tuning operation then variable resistor is need to be mounted. nothing is mandatory unless the application requires. DC voltage of 120 volts is feeding series circuit consisting of 2-ohm 6-ohm and 8-ohm regular resistors a variable resistor For line ammeter to indicate 1.5 amp the variable resistor must be fixed?
Rheostat is simply a variable resistor. i.e., typically 3 contacts, either end of resistive element and slider contact that moves along resistive element. So, in old radios would typically be used as a volume control. Answer A variable resistor may be used to control current, in which case it is called a rheostat. Or it may be used to control voltage, in which case it is called a potentiometer. In other words, the terms 'rheostat'…
What difference does interest rates being variable rather than fixed make to pension plans housing loans and other personal finances?
Fixed loop: this is the loop where the number of iterations are known. Variable loop: Here the number of iterations are not known Example for a variable loop. The pseudocode for variable whille loop begin character cchoice display"enter the choice" accept cchoice while(cchoice='y') begin //execute the statements end end Rkarthikeyan
Resistors are either fixed value, or variable. A variable resistor has three terminals; one at either end and one attached to a moving 'wiper', and can be connected either as a potentiometer or as a rheostat. So 'potentiometers' and a 'rheostats' are different applications for variable resistors. A potentiometer uses all three terminals, and is used to control levels of potential; whereas a rheostat uses just two of the three terminals, and is used to…
The primary difference is how the cash value is invested. Variable universal life means it is invested in stocks and mutual funds and a "fixed" universal life is usually dependent on interest rates. Both carry high risk, but a fixed universal life policy gives you a guarantee that it will not go below a certain interest rate, while variable universal policies usually do not.
Fixed Partition : it is a partitioning process in which main memory partition into a set of non-overlapping memory region . Fixed partion can be of equal size . Left over space after assingment is called internal fragmentation . Variable Partition . It is a set of overlapping memory region . it is not of equal size . Size of the partition depends on the data to be stored .
