If you want to go even farther, the animal that eats the tertiary consumer is known as the Quaternary consumer. A rat or mouse (the secondary consumer) feeds on the grasshopper, and a snake (the tertiary consumer) feeds on the mouse/rat. Finally, a hawk (the quaternary consumer) feeds upon the snake.
