The word laptop and notebook are currently being used interchangeably. Many manufacturer have stopped using the word laptop, as they no longer suggest that the computers be used on customer's laps. Overheating and battery explosions have led manufacturers to recommend that customer's always operate the devices on a hard surface.

∙ 14y agoTraditionally, notebook computers are smaller and lighter than laptop computers. Laptops offer larger screens, more hardware options, and longer battery life, but are generally heavier. These terms are now occassionally used interchangeably, however.
