A pellet Gun and a Air gun are the same thing. A pellet rifle and an air rifle are the same thing. You are most likely referring to a Pellet gun/rifle verses an Airsoft gun/rifle.
Pellet guns fire a metal projectile up to 1.500 FPS (Feet per Second) and are used for target practice or hunting.
Airsoft guns are capable of firing a 6mm plastic projectile up to 500 FPS and are designed to be used in Combat play where people shoot at each other. Much like Paintball only with less force. That's where the term "SOFT" come from.
Unfortunately "AirSoft guns" are often mistakenly referred to as "air guns" when they should be referred to as 'AirSoft guns".
Airsoft is considered more as a toy where "pellet air guns" are the next closest thing to a firearm with less power.
Airsoft guns/rifles all have red tips to let everyone know that they can be shot at another person.
Pellet air guns/rifles look similar to a firearm (NO RED TIP) and are never used in team play where people shoot at each other.
A pellet rifle has no firing pin. It also can not fire a bullet or gunpowder. It can not be made to do so either. The pellet has no charge (casing like a bullet) it just a pellet. However pellet rifles can be just as deadly as a real firearm. They use Air or C02 to project the pellet downrange. Some Pellet rifles are used for hunting, others for target practice. The Major difference between a firearm and an air rifle, is Gunpowder is use in Firearms and Air or C02 is used in Air rifles.
A sporter air rifle and what?
An Air Rifle is either a BB rifle or a pellet rifle. It uses air or gas to propel the projectile.
In general, an air rifle will drive a pellet faster, since the longer barrel permits the pellet to be pushed for a longer time.
Only if the rifle is designed for pellets. If it is a "Red Ryder" then the answer is NO. Daisy makes PELLET rifles.
When you say Air Rifle you are referring to a pellet rifle not a firearm. At present there are no 300 Cal air rifle being made.
Benjamin made a model 347 from 1969 to 1992 it was a pump handle that fired a single shot .177 pellet. As far as I know Benjamen never made a model 357 ( I may be wrong) but they have just come out with the Benjamin Rogue that fires a 357 caliber Pellet. This is PCP (PreCharged Pneumatic) class rifle. These are the most powerful class of air rifles today. The Rogue fires a 8 shot 357 caliber clip. The rifle cost around $1300. The 347 is designed for target and rodent control. The Rogue is designed for small to medium game hunting. The Rogue is not the largest caliber pellet rifle. Today the largest is the 50 caliber Dragon Claw air rifle by Sam Yang.
The Olympic air pistol and air rifle events use a .177 caliber pellet. The biathlon (skiing and shooting) uses a .22 caliber rim fire rifle.
This is a .177 pellet rifle.
It all depends on the rifle, pellet and power source.
Any Speed above 1,125 is considered Supersonic. There are several pellet rifles capable of this speed. As an example the PCP Air rifle, Air Force Condor is capable of firing a .177 pellet at 1,450 FPS.
A 50 caliber Pellet gun (rifle) is a precharged pneumatic air rifle. It uses a scuba tank or compressor to charge the rifle. It can fire up to a 50 cal pellet. Companies like Shin Sung and others make air rifles this large. You can find the on the web. Places like "Pyrmyd air" sell them.
