While both involve the same number of electrons, there is a big difference between one triple chemical bond and three single bonds.

For starters, triple bonds are by definition high-energy structures; they require more energy to form, and release more energy when they are broken. This is in part because the formation of the bond itself distorts the shape of the molecule, bringing those atoms closer together than they would normally be. In a sense, a triple bond is like a loaded spring, waiting to be released with a powerful snap.

In addition, only atoms with a valence of three or higher can even form a triple bond. Hydrogen, with a maximum valence of one, can only form single bonds with other atoms; whereas carbon, with a valence of four, can form triple bonds rather easily. Carbon-carbon triple bonds are called alkynes, and are their own class of organic molecules; the hot-burning fuel known as acetylene(C2H2) is one example.

On the other hand, molecules containing three (or more) single bonds are not only more common, they are chemically more diverse. After all, they can involve a wider range of atoms, including the aforementioned hydrogen. One relatively-common molecule with three single bonds is NH3, better known as ammonia.

single

What type of bond is found in an alkyne?

Single and triple

What type of bond is BrF3?

Bromine and fluorine are both non-metals, and the electronegativity difference between them is quite small, so the bonds will be covalent. In covalent bonds, electrons are shared between atoms in single, double, and triple bonds.

Can carbon only form single bonds?

No. Benzene (C6H6) is a base for very many carbocyclic compounds. It contains six carbon atoms in a hexagon. The bonds between the carbon atoms are alternately single and double. The fourth is with the hydrogen. Acetylen (C2H2) jas a triple carbon-to-carbon bond.

Do organic bonds have single or double bonds?

There are no certain bond type. There are single, double or triple bonds.

What is the chemical difference between a saturated and an unsaturated fats?

Unsaturated fats have double or triple carbon bonds.

How are unsaturated and saturated hydrocarbon different?

Saturated hydrocarbon cannot bond with compounds anymore, where as unsaturated hydrocarbons can bond, as they contain double or triple bonds. When they bond, the double and triple bonds break and new separate single bonds are formed with hydrogens or any other external compounds.

What do the dots in double and triple bonding in chemistry mean?

They represent the [single] double and triple covalent chemical bonds between atoms.

Does an organic compound have double or single covalent bonds?

Yes organic molecules can have single bonds, double bonds and triple bonds. Larger molecules, more than two carbons, always have single bonds and may have double and triple.

What do single bonds double bonds and triple bonds share?

All bonds (single to triple) share two electrons, the one electron is from the first and the other is from the second of the two bonded atoms.

What covalent bonds is the strongest triple single double nonpolar single?

triple bond is the strongest.
