A village is basically a small community (usually rural) where just a few people live with few amenities and a basic transport infrastructure.
A city is a large urban conurbation with a large population, good transport links and with industries and businesses providing employment. A city should also have a cathedral (or equivalent) and a city government. Cities also usually have a financial downtown area.
