Acoustic bass Guitars are hollow-bodied wooden instruments with four strings. They look and sound similar to an acoustic guitar, except the bass is larger. Many have pickups so that they can be amplified, in which case they are sometimes called acoustic-electric. An electric Bass Guitar is also usually four-stringed, although five, six, and eight-stringed basses are sometimes played, but features a solid slab body and requires an amp and speaker similar to electric guitars.
