Active transport is used to transfer particles when there is no concentration gradient. Active transport requires energy to occur however, diffusion does not.

What is a major difference between facilitate diffusion and active transport?

Active transport moves substances against the concentration gradient.

What id the difference between active and passive transport?

Active transport requires ATP and passive transport does not. Active transport goes against the concentration gradient and passive transport goes with the concentration gradient and includes osmosis, diffusion and facilitated diffusion.

What is the difference between active transport and osmosis?

Osmosis is the diffusion of water across a membrane, and does not require the input of energy. Active transport requires energy input.

What is the difference between diffusion and active transport refer to cell membrane and its properties?

Diffusion requires no energy as it follows the electrochemical gradient. Active transport requires energy (ATP), as it works against the electrochemical gradient.

How is the active transport different from diffusion?

The main difference is that diffusion does not require energy and active transport does require energy. Just for the record diffusion has a concentration that moves from high to low, and active transport has a concentration that moves from low to high. (Hope this helps to answer your question!)

Why does an organism have to provide energy for active transport?

The ATP hos to be provided because Active transport works against diffusion. its like the difference between a ball rolling down a hill (Passive Transport) and then having to push it up the hill (Active transport).

What is it called when materials move from lower to higher concentration?

Specifically Diffusion, but it is also active transport

What is the way the active transport differs from diffusion?

Active transport uses energy while diffusion does not

Is diffusion an act of active transport?

if you mean that active transport is an act of diffusion, than yes it is.

What is the main difference between active trasport and passive transport?

Active transport requires energy (ATP, GTP, etc) to work against the electrochemical gradient. Passive transport works with the electrochemical gradient and does not require energy. (Think diffusion)

What is the difference between active transport and passive transport mean?

Passive transport is a form of transport that does not require an input of energy. Examples include diffusion, osmosis and facilitated diffusion. On the other hand, active transport is a form of transport that requires an input of energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). This energy is required for processes such as moving molecules against the concentration gradient.

What is difference between active transport and passive transport?

One difference is energy consumption. Active transport requires the cell to expend energy, while passive transport does not. Active transport is movement from a lower concentration to a higher concentration and passive transport is movement from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. Active transport is the movement of molecules across a membrane requiring energy to be expended by the cell. Passive transport is diffusion across a membrane requiring only random motion of molecules with no energy expanded by the cell. Active transport requires ATP to transport materials. Passive transport does not require ATP input to transport materials. Ex: diffusion
