With every new smartphone on the market there are the usual differences, because Apple on release a new iPhone roughly on a yearly time scale, you will notice huge difference between some of the iPhones than others. With the 4 and the 4S you will not notice a hardware difference, the two both look very alike, you will only notice the difference if you look at the antenna band around the side of the iPhones, the 4S has four small black lines splitting the band, the 4 on the other hand doesn't have these lines. The iPhone 4S also comes with Siri, Apples voice recognition service, it allows you to ask the phone questions and then responds by giving you an answer, there is a limited amount of questions you can ask though and if you do not speak clearly then it will not understand you. Depending on where you live Siri will be better in some places than others, i.e. It can locate businesses and places in the US, but does not offer various other countries location information through Siri. There are other small differences which make the phone better, as I say the hardware/physical attributes of the phone have stayed the same, to the eye they look pretty much the exact same unless you examine them beside one another. The 4S is lighter in weight than the iPhone 4. If your thinking of buying one then you should go for the 4S, because overall it is the better phone.
