∙ 8y agoA monarchy is usually ruled by a "royal" family and when one monarch dies, a relative becomes king or queen. An oligarchy is a government ruled by a small group of people and they replace leaving members of the government with a carefully chosen person who shares their common beliefs.

The members are replaced by selecting another person of power who shares the ideas of the other members of the oligarchy. A monarchy is a family operated government and power is passed to another relative when the head of government, a king or a queen dies.
