It is important to distinguish between anxiety as a feeling or experience, and an anxiety disorder as a psychiatric diagnosis. A person may feel anxious without having an anxiety disorder.

Your wife takes lexapro tamazapan and axiety pills as well as BP meds She drinks a lot What are the consequences?

The temazepam, anxiety medication, and alcohol are all addictive. She needs to find a good therapist (not a psychiatrist) who specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy. This is a kind of therapy that works extremely well with anxiety and depression. You learn to get rid of the unhealthy thinking habits that cause you to be anxious and depressed, and you are taught healthy thinking habits that help your self-esteem and mental outlook. Therapy is the only cure for anxiety - medication (aka tranquilizers) only cover up the problem for a little while, and the same is true for alcohol. By depending on these drugs instead of learning how to solve the problem, she is just adding a new problem onto all the old ones making her miserable - she is headed for addiction or alcoholism! Lexapro, on the other hand, is not addictive and does not add to your problems. Lexapro is a medicine that helps the brain restore its natural chemical levels instead of remaining in the imbalance that causes depression.

Are cocker spaniels prone to separation axiety?

Cocker Spaniels can be prone to separation anxiety. However, there are lots of things you can do to help remedy that and make your Cocker much happier while you're not around. For example: Don't let your dog become bored while you're away - leave him with plenty of toys to play with or leave him a stuffed toy with treats and titbits to keep him occupied. Leave the radio on, tuned into a chat or talk show, so that he can hear the sound of human voices - this may help to settle him down. Don't make a fuss over him before you leave or on your return - he needs to understand that your leaving the house is no big deal. The best advice I can offer is that you give him a long walk with plenty of running (after a ball or a frisbee) exercise before you plan to leave him on his own - if you tire him out he's more likely to sleep while you're out and won't get a chance to become bored!
