Religious services in the Roman Catholic Church are called Masses.

Priests and their assistants celebrate the Mass, which includes Holy Communion, the partaking of the wine and host, supposed to be the blood and body of Jesus.

Additionally, priests are male and confession may be made to them, although it's not part of the Mass. They forgive the sins and instruct the petitioner which prayers must be said.

Their counterpart in synagogues are called services. Jews do not recognize Jesus as anything other than human, so no mention of him is made in the service. Instead, the congregants have various prayers of praise to God. They also pray for the ill (the Mishabarech prayer) and say Kaddish (a prayer for the dead).

Within the Reform, Conservative, and Reconstructionist movements, both the rabbi (which means "teacher") and the cantor (the person who leads the congregation in song) may be female. This is not the case within the Orthodox stream of Judaism.

The Jewish congregant can ask for forgiveness of sin during the silent prayer portion of the service or even in private prayer. However, the congregation as a whole asks for forgiveness of sin during the High Holidays, particularly on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year and the day on which Jews ask for forgiveness for sins against God. Unlike priests, neither rabbis nor cantors can forgive a congregant of sin. On the Saturday night before Rosh Hashanah, the first of the 10 days of the High Holidays, Jews recite the Selichot prayer in which they absolve everyone of punishment for injuring them purposely or inadvertantly. They are supposed to apologize in person to those whom they have wronged.

There are no similarities. The Jews wear a Tallith and Tefillin, they read from the Torah, they pray in Hebrew, and they do not mention Jesus.
