Well the difference is that suburbs are "near" the city, if that's where you live you enjoy the proximity to civilization, but at night when the street lights come on you most likely retreat to a "suburb" of the city. City life entails being around many people at various schedules, you usually try not to leave the city, no retreat, just lights!!!
