if so then most people consider a causual relationship to be a bit of fun, don't get too caught up in the other. (don't get too attached!)

Whereas a serious relationship involves two people who really want to be together, both care for each other and want more than just sex. a long term relationship with no messing around behind each others backs. Simples!

The difference between dating and having a relationship is a relationship is considered serious and dating isn't. A relationship means that you're a couple and dating means you're just seeing each other.

Yes and no. Some people only go out with people for their looks and that is never a serious relationship. However if there are real feelings involved between both of you then yes it is.
For a guy a 'girlfriend' is someone he is serious about and is in a committed relationship and may or may not include a physical relationship depending on age of people etc. A 'lover' is generally not a committed relationship and is just a more elegant way of staying 'FWB' or 'F**k Buddy'!
