Composting is the purposeful biodegradation of organic matter, such as yard and food waste. The decomposition is performed by micro-organisms, mostly bacteria, but also yeasts and fungi.

Vermicompost, or Vcompost, is the heterogenous mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, bedding materials, and pure vermicast produced during the course of normal vermiculture operations. (Vermicomposting uses worms. Vermis is Latin for worms).

Compost is the recycling of bionic material into soil, typically used as a top soil.

Compost is typically made of a perfect ration of Green to Brown Materials.

The concept is that microscopic life forms are in the greens and devour the browns eventually turning the entire concoction into soil.

A worm farm is typically much more contained. In a worm farm, you can place meats, banana peals, and other bionic materials that normally would not go into the compost pile. In the worm garden, there is no fear of insect pests leaving larvae in your compost, turning it into a spawning pool, literally.

You can also release some of your worms from the worm farm to work the soil in your garden.

A worm farm is like a stepping stone to a composter for consumer fruit, vegetable, and meet waste.

Organic matter and the uppermost soil layer describe the difference between compost and topsoil. Compost is the human-directed or Mother Nature-guided breakdown of carbon- and nitrogen-rich recyclables into dark-colored, fresh-smelling, nutrient-rich humus whereas topsoil refers to the outermost 2 to 8 inches (5.1 to 20 centimeters) of Earth's soil horizons. Topsoil occurs naturally as Planet Earth's A or O horizon even though a biological soil mix with micro-organisms and organic matter may be home-made or store-bought.

Difference between farmyard manure and compost manure?

Manure is manure is manure. Humanure, cow manure, horse manure, it's all poo. Compost manure is just manure that's been composted (left to rot and break down). Most manure starts off hot, literally, it heats up as it begins to break down. You don't want to put that on your plants, because it's too strong. You want to compost it first. Let it sit for a year and then use it. The only "cold" manures that I know of are rabbit and worms. You can take it straight from their enclosures and put it directly in your garden. Bird droppings might be cold too, but I'm not positive on that.
