fleas,lice,ticks,&mites
Human Head Lice and Guinea Pig lice are two different types. Humans aren't affected by Guinea Pig Lice and Guinea Pigs are the same for Human Head Lice. You are perfectly safe to hold you guinea pig :)
Yes. They can get bugs, mites or fleas, that's if you keep them dirty or outside while it's Nat season! And never let them get cold! Or overheated! In summer bring a guinea pig's water bottle just in case!
The doctor will need to distinguish between head lice and dandruff; between body lice and scabies (a disease caused by skin mites); and between pubic lice and eczema.
OH YES. Guinea pigs get mites sometimes. Make sure you get your guinea pig from a place that is clean and takes care of their pets well. Because when my friend got her guinea pig, she got it from a crappy store in the mall, and it had mites. If your guinea pig does happen to get mites, you get rid of them by shampooing them with special mite shampoo.
Can be mites or lice. Get it treated.
A healthcare professional needs to distinguish between body lice and scabies--a disease caused by skin mites--and between pubic lice and eczema, a skin condition.
Lice and mites are two distinct speciesalthough therir behaviour is very similar. There are lots oftechnical and genetic difference but in practical terms, Mites are often microscopic and invisable to the naked eye. Lice are larger and can easily be seen. However, the exception to this rule is Fur Mites often found on rats. These are much larger than other mite and can be seen easily like lice. They appear lik small black dots onthe skin of the animal. However it is important to ensure that the "dots" move or it ould be something as simple as Buck Spot, which rats can get. Mites tend to leave small scabs on he animal if they are microscopic. Both can be eradicated with products such as ivermectin available from good pet shops.
Birds do not have head lice, however, they may have mites.

Fleas, ticks, mites, lice and mosquitoes are all found in deserts.
Caged birds with lice or mites will scratch a lot. Whether or not your parrot has lice or mites, it is wise to get a mite spray from the pet shop and spray it every couple of days. The spray does no harm if used properly.
