Heterozygous vs. Homozygous: These terms refer to genetic mutations. There are two copies of the protein codes in the genetic code. If one copy is normal and the other has the mutation, it is said to be heterozygous. If both copies have the mutation, it is said to be homozygous. For example: A/A -- homozygous. A/a -- heterozygous. a/A -- heterozygous. a/a -- homozygous.

Homologous refers to the pair of chromosomes that are the same whilst Homozygous refers to the fact that alleles of a gene pair are the same

Heterozygous has 2 different letters, like Tt or Pp. There's really only one option for heterozygous, because there the uppercase letter goes first (dominant), and the lowercase letter goes second (recessive).

Homozygous has 2 of the same letters, like TT, tt, or PP, pp. Homozgous cannot have 2 different letters.

A few pointers on homozygous: TT is considered homozgous dominant, because both letters are capital. The lowercase tt is homozygous recessive, because both letters are lowercase. When speaking of homozygous terms, it is best to specify whether the term is recessive or dominant.

Hope that helps!

What does homozgous mean?

Homozygous means that you have identical alleles for a trait. Example: For females, both alleles are XX. Males are heterozygous, with XY.

What would the offspring most likely be if an individual with a heterozygous trait and an individual with a homozgous recessive trait crossed be?

The offspring would have a 50% chance of being heterozygous and showing the dominant trait and a 50% chance of being homozygous for the recessive trait.

What is the difference between homzyguos and heterozyous?

Homozygous recessive: is when the genes are both recessive Homozygous dominant: is when the genes are both dominant (traits show) Heterozygous dominant: is when one gene is dominant and one is recessive (traits show) Heterozygous recessive: is the same as heterozygous dominant but the dominant genes are inactive

What is the difference between homozygous and herterozygous?

homozygous is where the 2 chromosomes are the same. ex- rr, RR heterozygous is where the 2 chromosomes are different. ex- Rr

What is the difference between a hybrid and a purebred?

A purebred organism is the offspring of two homozygous parents. A hybrid on the other hand, comes from two heterozygous parents, which is a cross between two species.

The difference between a dominate and a recessive trait is?

A trait is dominant if it continues to be expressed in the heterozygous as well as the homozygous state. Recessivetraits are only expressed in the homozygous state.

What is the difference between heterzygous and homozygones?
