Chemical and biological weathering are different because:
a) biological weathering - this means that if a seed of a plant gets coincidentally deposited in a crack in a rock, if it is humid enough, the see will grow. it's roots will spread out and eventually break the rock.
b) chemical weathering - this means that chemicals in rain/acid rain weathers away the rock.
Physical weathering applies when a rock surface is rubbed away by some physical force. Examples would include
• wearing smooth of river rocks by continuous flow of water (over a very long time)
• sand blasting of rocks in desert storms
• tumbling of coastal stones together by wave action
• gouging of rocks by glaciers.
• splitting of rocks by water filling cracks and then expanding as it freezes.
Chemical weathering applies when a rock is eroded away by some sort of chemical reaction. Examples would include
• acidity in rain or streams reacting with limestone to make carbon dioxide and soluble calcium salts
• acidic secretions from lichens or mosses dissolving away alkaline portions of granites and similar materials (feldspars and plagioclases)
Chemical involves Chemistry, but Physical includes Geography (physical).
Chemical weathering is mostly rain-related. Acid rain is noted in particular for the destruction of basic rocks like Limestone. Rain in general is responsible for the dissolution of sedimentary cements, especially in Sandstones.
Physical weathering ranges in forms, including ex-foliation, freeze-thaw and biological. This results in often visible changes, compared to chemical which sometimes leaves no sign at all.
A comparison leads to the conclusion that chemical is related to the chemical reactions and dissolution of minerals, whereas physical is more related to the physical changes made to an environment by physical factors and processes.
physical weathering can be breakdown of a rock from a stream that the rock is in witch will slowly break it and make it round and smooth.
chemical could be acid rain or rusting witch breaksit down also.
Biological weathering is when a rock is eroded by an animal or plant (a living thing) but physical weathering is when the effects of changing temperature on rocks, causing the rock to break apart. The process is sometimes assisted by water.
physical weathering is freeze thaw and exfoliation or onion skin weathering, chemical weathering is acid rain and biological is plants and animals.
chemical weathering is when the colour changes
physical weathering is when the shape changes
1. Acid rains produce a chemical weathering.2. Chemical weathering involve chemical reactions.
chemical weathering change will most likely make a new substance
occures when the chemical comosition of the rock changes
Both types of weathering cause rocks and other solid materials to break apart/break down. Both types of weathering are the start of erosion processes.
Add dye or food coloring you may see a diffence in color. The water may take longer to have the dye take over. Your cheimcal may not or there is no color.
The diffence between chemical and physical is that ones chemical and ones physical!!
Physical weathering is breaking down of rocks by weather that does not change their chemical components. Chemical weathering is weathering that breaks rocks down by a chemical change.
physical weathering is weathering that you can reverse and chemical weathering is where you can' reverse it.
Physical change doesn't produce a new substance, but a chemical change is a new substance.
Chemical weathering is which makes new substances, whereas physical weathering is where rock is changed into smaller pieces of the same substance.
1. Acid rains produce a chemical weathering.2. Chemical weathering involve chemical reactions.
chemical weathering change will most likely make a new substance
physical: water, wind, and temperature chemical: acid rain and rust
1) Chemical and biological sedimentary rocks are produced by chemical weathering instead of the siliciclastic sediments which are created by physical weathering. Because physical weathering is much more often than the chemical weathering there are 10 times more clastic sediments in the earth's crust than chemical and biological sediments.
Physical properties can be observed without changing the chemical composition of a substance. Chemical properties can only be observed by changing the chemical composition of the substance. In a physical change, the chemical composition of the substance does not change. In a chemical change, the chemical composition of the substance changes.
Physical weathering is: frost, crystallization, exfoliation,, biological and pressure release. Chemcal weathering: anything with chemicals in it like carbonation, hydrolysis, solution, oxidation and hydration.
they both break down stuff into fragments.p.s : this is the right answer.
