Geographically, Great Britain is the main island of Britain and contains England, Scotland and Wales. The British Isles is the geographical term for the main islands of Britain and Ireland and all of their off-shore islands. Politically, the United Kingdom is England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
