Marriages in every culture have the same purposes: they join two people spiritually, socially, and legally (almost without exception marriages require religious sanctification). They legitimize sexual conduct, cohabitation, and childbirth. They mark the transition into full, responsible adulthood. In most societies, marriage is seen as the point at which daughters leave the care and protection of their parents (often symbolized in wedding ceremonies by the father 'giving away' the bride), and at which sons settle down and become men. Marriages are also used (among the wealthy and powerful) to maintain class distinctions, retain control over property, and secure certain kinds of social and political power. For example, the British Monarch can not legally marry a commoner, American 'society' families rarely marry outside of their social circle, and Hindus frown on inter-caste marriages.

Most cultures have a period of engagement, in which the two people publicly announce their intent to marry (though some cultures have traditions of elopement, or of the groom 'stealing' the bride from her parent's house - with the parent's foreknowledge and tacit consent). Actual ceremonies differ widely according to faith and culture. Protestant ceremonies, for instance, tend to be short, formal, and elegant: a short processional, followed by a brief questioning of the bride and groom, an exchange of vows, and then sanctification of the union before God by a minister. Hindu ceremonies are more protracted events, often spanning several days. They may involve (depending on region) preliminary offerings to various gods for blessings and good fortune, cleansing rituals, customs concerning the arrival of the groom or the arrival of the bride in the days before the wedding. The ceremony itself is traditionally held in the presence of a sacred fire, so that the god Agni can witness and sanctify the event.

there are several differences firstly, Christian brides don't wear henna this is when the bride has their hands and arms covered in a dye. secondly, christian brides don't wear a sari. although both weddings are as technical as each other the Hindu wedding consists of the bride and groom placing garlands onto each other.

At the fundamental level there is no difference, we are all natives of Planet Earth and as such we should care for it and each other.
