A bill of lading indicates which party claims title or ownership to the goods being shipped. A waybill is an in house document used by carriers that shows the shipper, consignee, route etc. but does not validate ownership of the goods. www.thelogisticsmanager.com
Some of the differences between a Master Bill of Lading (MBL) and a House Bill of Lading (HBL) are that the MBL is issued by the carrier shipping line to the freight forwarder and the HBL is issued by the freight forwarder to the actual customer. Also, the shipper, consignee and details on how to notify the party are different on the MBL and HBL.
The forwarder's cargo receipt is a document issued by a freight forwarder confirming receipt of the cargo. A bill of lading is a legally binding contract between a freight carrier and shipper. The bill of lading contains all the details needed to process the shipment.
