The Legislative make the laws, the Judicial interpret the laws, and the Executive enforce the laws.

As an example, the US Congress make the laws, the Supreme Court interprets the laws, deciding what is and isn't lawful and how laws interact with each other, and the President, through various agencies and offices, enforces the law, arresting various forms of criminal.
