There is only one median plane, which divides the left and right sides of the body into two equal halves. The sagittal plane is any vertical plane that is parallel to the median plane, so it can divide the left and right sides but they will be unequalparts.

∙ 9y agoThe difference between the sagittal plane and midsagittal plane depends on who's answering. Traditionally, they mean the same thing. For some people, "sagittal" refers to any plane parallel to the midsagittal plane, which divides the body into equal right and left parts.
