Sensory nerves are nerves that receive sensory stimuli, such as how something feels and if it is painful Motor nerves allow the brain to stimulate muscle contraction. A motor nerve is an efferent nerve that exclusively contains the axons of somatic and branchial motoneurons, which innervate skeletal muscles (that ensure locomotion) and branchial muscles (that motorize the face and neck).

Sensory nerves are the nerves that send information to the brain dealing with sensory organs (like the five senses; touch in skin, sight in eyes, hearing in ears, taste in tongue, smell in the nose). An example of information gathered by sensory nerves would be the colors of a sunset, or the taste of a nice, hot soup. Motor nerves are the nerves that send actual commands from the central nervous system to the muscles and other organs. Such as your brain telling your arm to retract from a stove if it is still hot. Your sensory nerves that regulate touch tell you that the stove is hot. To keep from doing more damage to yourself, your body creates the sensation of pain. That means you'll have to move your arm. Every intentional command starts at the brain, so you think, 'Ouch! That's hot! I need to stop touching it.' The command is then sent to your arm through motor nerves, and you have just been saved from an extremely painful third degree burn.
