What is the difference between the two characters - 'Ike' and 'Marth'?

Marth and Ike are from the same Fire Emblem franchise, but they live in different dimensions.
Marth is from the first game of the series, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. It was released for the NES in 1990 and had only been available in Japan. This game later received a remake for the Nintendo DS and is available outside of Japan. His sequel, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, was released for the SNES in 1994 and was not available outside of Japan. His sequel also received a remake for the Nintendo 3DS, but it was never released outside of Japan.
Ike is from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and the sequel Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Both were played on the Nintendo GameCube, and both were released outside of Japan.

Why was roy removed?
it was decided that There would be no "clone" characters in BRawl (characters w/ the same moves and slightly different stats than another). He was replaced by ike, who has a different moveset then marth. ---- Actually, Roy was removed with the addition of Ike, but there are numerous clone characters in Brawl (Falco, Wolf, Toon Link, etc...) ---- Roy was merely replaced by Ike. Clone characters is obviously not the problem, seeing as Captain Falcon and Ganondorf are nearly IDENTICAL. The only difference is that Ganondorf is somewhat slower than Captain Falcon.
