Where is the knock sensor located on a 1998 nissan's quest?

The knock sensor sub-harness connector is located on the passenger side of the engine compartment next to the intake manifold. Must be checked by observing voltage fluctuations with a voltmeter.

Where is the throttle sensor on celebrity engine?

A throttle position sensor on any car is on the side of the throttle body. You can backprobe it with a voltmeter to check its operation. If you remove it, you'll have to calibrate it with the voltmeter, adjusting it within slotted holes.

no difference. both are located underneath the car by the tranny.

What is the difference between npn and pnp proximity sensors?

No worries. The important thing here is that this module is simply reading a voltage from the sensor with reference to the ground of that sensor. This means that this module is always going to be a sinking device, and will be always be sinking small amounts of current from that sensor. This means, that your sensor is going to be powered externally and we will simply be reading the output voltage from it. Here is a link to a knowledgebase article about sinking and sourcing current. I hope this helps to clarify.

Where is the knock sensor on a 1997 Mercury Villager?

The knock sensor is under the intake manifold.Replacement of it requires an experienced mechanic. But first, do a diagnostic check before condemning it. This requires checking for voltage fluctuations with a voltmeter hooked up to the knock sensor sub-harness electrical connector. The sensor signal uses a white wire usually- the terminal is located to the immediate right from the upper left corner terminal on the 1997 model. You tap the intake manifold with a hammer and observe voltage fluctuations (this tap simulates knock from the engine). If no voltage fluctuations are observed, the sensor is bad. But if you do observe fluctuation, your knock problem is elsewhere.
