There really isn't much of a technical difference between loss of weight and loss of size. As you lose weight your size will naturally become smaller. But do keep in mind that muscle does weigh more than fat.

Many people make the mistake of not eating anything to lose weight (dangerous idea!) and in turn lose a lot of their muscle mass. It is important to preserve muscle mass while you are loosing weight.

Consuming lots of protein and lifting weights is the best way to build muscle, while the best way to lose weight is to consume less calories and exercise several days a week. So be sure to consume the proper types of protein (fish, turkey, chicken and other lean meats) and try to stay away from high calorie dense food.
