One of the main reasons the Roman and Celtic churches were so different was that they both developed differently. The Celtic church developed in Ireland, away from all Roman influence, because it was never a part of the Roman Empire. It was also shaped by the local concerns of the native people of Ireland. The Roman Christianity, although it touched the hearts of many, was based solely on keeping peace among the inhabitants. It was thought "unfashionable" to not be a Christian in Rome.

Does Catholic Church use the Celtic cross?

I do know that the church to which I belong, St Mary's Catholic Church in Peru IL has both the standard Christian cross and the Celtic Cross on the roof of the church. The Christian cross extends high on the steeple and the Celtic cross is above the doors. This parish was formed and the present church built by immigrants wishing to establish an English speaking church as the others in town were either Polish or German. What Christian Church did most people belong to in the Middle Ages?

The most important Church of the Middle Ages was the Catholic Church. When it split in 1054, it became the Roman Catholic Church in the West and the Eastern Orthodox Church in the East. There were always other Churches. The Celtic Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church and the Oriental Orthodox Churches were very early and all predated the Middle Ages. The Celtic Christian Church was absorbed by the Catholic Church, but the others continue. There were also heterodox organizations outside orthodox Christianity, and some of these were declared heretical, in some cases resulting in military operations.

What is difference true Christianity and the Church Religion?

Some People believe that if you go to church you are a christian but it is much more than that to be a christian. There is a difference from saying you are a christian and being one. You have to put your whole life into being one, and following Gods ways. If some one was to come up to you and say " i am a skydiver." you would probably want to see them do it. If you were in a plane with them you would see that there is a difference between saying you a skydiver and actually doing the sky diving, you also have to realize that saying you are a christian because you go to church and living for Christ in and out of church are two completely different things.
