Gauge and mil refer to the thickness of the liner. To find the thickness when listed by gauge ask for the type of material and check for the converted value ( ie a 10 gauge liner may equate to perhaps a 0.14 inch thickness material , 8 gauge may be 0.12 inches etc ) The mil value usually refers to a millimeter thickness (ie 15 mil should be thicker than a 10 mil ) >KEEP IN MIND THAT THE MIL NUMBER IS NOT IN INCHES , so make sure what the mil value is given in millimeters or inches then you can compare the different thicknesses. If the pool dealer doesnt know the difference you may want to find another dealer

25 mil generally means the bottom is 25 mil but the side may be 20 mil 25 gauge generally means the bottom and side is 25 mil, so a 25 gauge liner is thicker on the sidewall than a 25 mil liner. 15 Mil side / 20 Mil bottom = 20 Mil Liner 20 Mil side / 20 Mil bottom = 20 Gauge Liner 20 Mil side / 25 Mil bottom = 25 Mil Liner 25 Mil side / 25 Mil bottom = 25 Gauge Liner Dr Dennis Shilling, NY.

this depends on the shape of your pool and the thickness of your liner. We purchased one a few years ago for our 25K gallon pool but we have a deep end that goes down about 10 feet and a shallow end at about four feet. Our price including installation and some work on the material under the liner was $3,500. We did this through a local dependable company for a couple of reasons. One the local company is one I wish to keep local. Two, the service they provided was excellent and any questions I have later can be easily answered as they know my pool. However, there are other probably a bit cheapter places that could have done the work. Hope this helps!
