The LCD offers a more clearer contract rather then a plasma since the plasma has more a of smear look with the HDTV that is added to the TV, however they are both are pretty compareable when it comes to the HDTV added to the TV.
you are comparing apples to oranges. HDTV is an umbrella which LCD falls under. Plasma is also under that umbrella. LCD is a type of HDTV
