The Oxygen we breath is a "diatomic" molecule comprising 2 Oxygen atoms - O2. This paring provides a lower energy state than a single Oxygen atom on its own.

Ozone is made in the upper atmosphere whe Ultraviolet light form the Sun breaks apart and O2 pair and the two free Oxygen atoms then latch on to another pair of Oxygen atoms to make a molecule comprising 3 Oxygen atoms (O3).

O3 is more stable (lower energy state than a single Oxygen atom) but still not as stable as O2.

When it can O3 will release its extra Oxygen to revert to O2 and this spare Oxygen atom is therefore available to oxidize things so O3 is corrosive.

What makes the ozone different than the oxygen that you breath?

Ozone is made of O3, whereas the oxygen you intake is O2.

What is the number of oxygen atoms in ozone?

3 atoms (03) Ozone is the triatomic form of oxygen ok, well oxygen isn't the only thing we breath we also breath nitrogen and a whole bunch of other gases. the difference between oxygen and ozone is ozone is o3 meaning it has 3 oxygen atoms instead of just one. hope i help

How is the ozone oxygen different from normal oxygen?

The ozone molecule has three oxygen atoms ( O ) ( / \ ) ( O - O ) The normal oxygen which I presume the type of oxygen that we breath is composed of two oxygen atoms ( O ) ( | ) ( O )

How are the properties of ozone and oxygen different?

Oxygen and ozone are completely different in properties. Ozone is a pollutant on breathing, while oxygen is not.

Why do oxygen gas and ozone have different properties?

Because of different structure and bonds between oxygen atoms

How are oxygen and ozone differernt?

Oxygen and ozone are different. Oxygen is the diatomic form of oxygen atmon while ozone is the triatomic form.

Why does it matter which isotope of oxygen you breath?

Because some isotopes of Oxygen are toxic (ozone for example) !

How is the ozone molecule different from ordinary oxygen?

Normal oxygen is O2 whereas ozone is O3.

What does ozone mean in science?

Oxygen molecule, generally it is O2 and is what we breath in. As in Oxygen goes into our body to carry out aerobic respiration.

Why do oxygen gas and ozone have difefrent properties?

Oxygen and ozone have different properties. It is because of their atomic structure.

What is the oxygen cycle?

It is when say for exampe that you breath in oxygen and then breath out Carbon Dioxide. The Carbon dioxide is released in the air and then the trees take it and produce oxygen. The oxygen is released and then the cycle starts all over again.

How is oxyen diffenet form ozone?

Oxygen is different in the number of atoms from ozone. Oxygen contains 2 atoms while ozone has 3.
