It would depend on the type of shingle you choose, 15yr., 20yr., 30yr.,40yr. The higher the year wear the heavier the shingle
36 inches long. Each tab is about 12 inches long.
A bundle of shingles weigh ~ 80lbs, so it depends if you are using 3-tab or architectual shingles. There are usually 22 shingles in a bundle of arch. and 26 in a bundle of 3-tab. Doing the division and arch shingle weighs ~3.63 lbs and a 3-tab weighs ~3.08lbs. The weight will very depending on the brand and style of shingle as well... Hope that helps you...
what is the weight of a sq of 3 tab and a sq of arutectural shingles
It weighs 3 Ibs per one square footage of asphalt shingle
Complete instructions should be included on the shingle package, but essentially what you will be doing is placing the top of the new shingle against the bottom edge of the old shingle, assuming the exposure of the shingles is the same.
3 tab will have a 20 year rating vs 30 year for the shadowline products. Beyond that it's a personal preference based on looks.
Roofing shingles are measured in "squares". One square is 100 square feet. *ASSUMING YOUR ROOF IS FLAT OR NEARLY FLAT* 16' x 80' = 1280 square feet. You'll need 12.8 (or 13) squares of roofing shingles. The majority of roofing shingle bundles are 3 bundles per square. 13 squares times 3 bundles per square = 39 bundles (minimum). Good luck!
depends on if you go with a 25 yr or a 30 yr shingle. For a 25 yr shingle you are looking at 44 bundles plus 10% for ridge cap comes to 49.5 bundles. For a 30 yr shingle you are lloking at about 51 bundles plus 10 % comes to 56 bundles there abouts.
Cut the shingles into three individual tabs. Center a tab over the peak and put one nail on each side above the tar strip. Lay the next one over it as you would a shingle and continue to the end. On the last one, you will have to surface nail the shingle.
one more tab, just for looks. 4 tabs have smaller tabs, and are the same length but require one more nail per shingle. the ones i have used have an wider angled rain channel.
