Advantages of robots are that they can be efficient and cheap. Disadvantages would be they destroy jobs for actual people.
They use alot of things such as Autonomous Polar Geophysical Explorer, which is a machines to capture deep-sea pictures of the Arctic Basin. Also they use remotely operated vehicles and submersibles (this is kind of like a small submarine and robot powered)
