Plots are- if a continuing story line is required, strung out over many months- some never conclusively end. this enhances both continuity and suspense- that is difficult to do with novels. it can take months to run a basic story in say, Steve Canyon, Dick Tracy or Brick Bradford. also, certain plot lines do not run well. as the audience is pre-disposed to humor, tragic or deep plot angles do not go over very well. ( to a lesser extent this is true of situarion or seria drama- such as Westerns. The audience knows very well the situation will be favorably resolved. But with the comics the audience expects comedy- and as has been argued- the Sight Gag works- the sight sob- it just falls short. Even tragic themes ( in some comic books) such as the battle of Themyscira where thousands of Amazons died- comes over as at worst- a slow-paced documentary, I could almost imagine a Walter Cronkite intoning- and we observe the preparation of the bodies ( all in White body sheets) of the deceased Amazons being stacked and placed in something like concrete cribs ( which are usually wood) I did not see the whole story- my guess the second stage would be to flood the tomb area with pumped concrete and seal the entrance- Valley of the Dead Dolls- so to speak- but it really doesn"t cut in the Lachrymotor drives- one knows it is fiction- and handled rather deadbeat- no pun intended, but sort of pseudo- documentary.l still it did happen in one of the Wonder Woman numbers- a comic book, not a strip. generally they cannot handle tragedy well, as explained above.
One potential disadvantage of reading comics is that it may lead to eye strain and fatigue due to prolonged screen time or focusing on small text and images. Additionally, some people may argue that reading comics could potentially inhibit the development of traditional reading skills, such as analyzing dense texts or building complex narratives.

You do not have to be a certain age at all. People start reading at various ages for any number of reasons. Personally, I started at age 13, but there are some people who don't start reading comics until well into adulthood. There are also some who have been reading comics since they learned how to read. It doesn't really matter WHEN you start, just THAT you start!
You can be all aged but it depends on which comics you read.
