Ushuaia is sometimes referred to as the southernmost city in the world.

The flight distance between Salta, in northern Argentina, and Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego (southernmost region of Argentina) is 2076 miles (3341 km). The driving distance would include crossing the Strait of Magellan (and possibly Chile), eventually including the Atlantic coast near the port of Rio Grande. The drive itself would be between 2500 and 2800 miles depending on the ship travel distance. The shortest water crossing is in inland Chile east of Punta Arenas (2300 miles driving from Salta).
