What is the dominant climate found on the African Continent?
Desert and arid.
A tropical ecosystem does exist in the far north, in north Limpopo Province, but South Africa as such could not be described as a tropical country, because the tropics are generally further north on the African continent. However, the climate on the east coast of South Africa is subtropical, while a subtropical highland climate is found in the northeastern interior.
It is said that Antarctica was once a warm continent, Therefore it once held warm weather animals, But the climate started to change and it became cold, Therefore the fossils of warm blooded animals can be found in Antarctica. +++ The world's climate was warmer and Antarctica was part of a much larger continent lying further North.
Mostly there are two type of Elephants found on earth; 1. Indian Elephant and 2. African elephant. African elephant is larger in size, but there habitat is restricted to African continent only. In contrast Indian elephant is found in South-easter Asia to central Asia and they can be habitat in different geographic location.
The Two main species of Elephants are: a. African Elephants - They are found all over Africa in small pockets and are found in large numbers in the southern part of the continent b. Asian Elephants - These elephants are found predominantly in the Indian sub-continent (India and Sri Lanka) and parts of South East Asia.
