If you have a 2.5 liter engine it is located where the lower radiator hose meets the engine.
2.2 liter models: 4.2 us qt (4.0 liter); 2.5 liter models: 4.7 us qt (4.5 liter).....
The 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine in a 2000 Subaru Outback is an interference engine ( according to Gates , they make timing belts etc. )
The spark plug gap, for your 2000 Subaru 2.5 liter engine, is .007. Most spark plugs will be pre-gapped by the spark plug manufacturer.
Assuming you are asking about engine displacement, all 1997 Outback models built in the US used a 2.5 liter engine. That is 2500 cubic centimeters.
2.5 liter engine model: 7.3 in (185 mm); 3.0 liter engine model: 7.9 in (200 mm).
It is on the underside of the engine. Look for where the large lower hose connects to the engine.

Subaru 2.5 liter engine has a problem with head gaskets. If you have not had your head gaskets replaced, that is the first thing I would suspect.
