Electromagnetic wave is a form of transmitted energy. Electromagnetic radiation

is so-named because it has electric and magnetic fields that simultaneously oscillate in

planes mutually perpendicular to each other and to the direction of propagation through

space.

Electromagnetic wave has the dual nature ,i.e ,it exhibits wave properties and particulate properties both.A particle on the classical view is a concentration of energy and other properties in space and time, whereas a wave is spread out over a larger region of space and time. An electromagnetic wave is supposed to have both characters.
