The United States has what is called a "Mixed Market System" meaning aspects of both a free market capitalism (no regulation) system and a government socialism (largely or completely regulated) system are merged into a mixture of the two. Example: You may invest your money in the Stock Market as you choose, however there are regulations in place to prohibit you from say trading stocks with insider information. Ex2:Banks are allowed to make monetary decisions, but must follow some government guidelines. We mix desirable qualities from both systems together and change slightly as we go depending on those in charge and current ideologies
