Abraham left Haran because God instructed him to do so. Some scholars claim that he waited until after the death of his father to leave Haran, but others claim he elft before Terah's death, due to God telling him to leave for a new land.

Well, there were no Israelites at the time the family left Ur, but I understand

the question.

The answer, and a little bit of background. are found early in Genesis.

Start at Chapter 11, Verse 26. Then you only have to read nine verses,

up to Genesis 12:4, and you'll have the whole thing.

Terah took him out of Ur (Genesis ch.11). Rather, your question should be: why did Abraham leave Haran. The answer is because God told him to (Genesis ch.12).
