The 8th " character " of your 17 digit VIN
what are the years and kinds of Automatic transmissions that will fit in a 2.3l 97 ford ranger 4x2
Wheel bearings? 4X4 ? 4X2?
Possible, if you switch tailhousings. the transfer case takes a different tailhousing then a 4X2
If its a Ford Ranger XL 4x4 the stock tire size is 215/75R15. On the 1994 Ranger you had an additional option size of 235/75R15 and 265/75R15 (31x10.50) depending on the engine size. For the 4x2 models, I believe the options were 195/70R14, 215/70R14, and 225/70R14.
225 / 70 / r14 ( 98 s )
I checked www . motorcraft . com ( no spaces ) , and the Explorer and Ranger take different part numbers
As long as its the same drivetrain (donor truck and recipient are both 4X4 or 4X2) with same engine size than it will be a bolt in operation. If you need help with the installation go to google and look up Ranger Forums. theres quite a few. id like to recommend Ranger Power Sports and Off Road Rangers. Im a member of both and those guys collectively now every in and out of the ford ranger since its inception in 1983 :D
Check with the local salvage yard that handles ford the 5-speed transmission from a 92 3.0 V6 4x2 will only fit 91-94's with a 3.0 V6 or a 94 Mazda B3000 m.t. 4x2
change engine, tranny, and diff fluids. replace all belts and hoses. replace spark plugs. check/replace brake pads/shoes. valve job if necessary.
no
It goes from you speedometer down you engine bay to the transfer case (if that's a 4X4) or into your transmission (4X2)
Check under the truck about in line with the seat . You may need special tools to change it. the fuel pump for a 2002 ranger is located in the gas tank. pulling the bed off is easier than dropping the tank for this repair
