The B21 motor is quite durable butlifespan depends completely on maintenance. Many engines go 200k w/ minimal work other than timing belts, water pumps and oil changes. People who tell you Volvo motors are bullet proof are ill informed. While certainly a stout, durable engine, as with any motor the key to long life is doing routine maintenance.
