The Iroquois are several tribes of indigenous people of North America. They were based in what is today upstate New York west of the Hudson River.

Political structure of the Iroquois allowed them to cooperate (the different tribes), which made them strong, but at times like the American Revolution, were people had to decide which side to support, the nations of the Iroquois could choose differently, thus creating an unstable environment.
The Iroquois learned to build houses that were suited to the climate. They learned to make clothes that were appropriate for the changing seasons. They learned the seasonal migrations of the local animals.
