Genus Gardenia aka cape Jasmine
True jasmines are in the genus Jasminum. There are several plants in other genera that have "jasmine" in their common names; for example, the plant called "star jasmine" is actually Trachelospermum jasminoides.
Jasmine is a genus of shrubs and vines in the olive family, with about 200 species that are native to tropical and warm temperate regions. Because of this diversity, Jasmine can be an evergreen or a deciduous plant that can grow in an erect, spreading, or climbing manner. While their center of diversity is in South Asia and Southeast Asia, only one species is actually native to Europe.

I live in Spain & have just bought a violet coloured Jasmine plant from the local garden centre. Its description was Jasminum Violeta. It is a beautiful plant with very dark green leaves & it has lots of buds on it. The flower itself is similar to the white Jasmine but not as many in the clusters. The leaves are not at all like the white Jasmine plant that I own,but look to be evergreen & more like the shape of the yellow Winter Jasmine.
